Description

There’s nothing quite like the taste of summer — biting into sun-ripened blackberries freshly picked on a warm August day while walking through the countryside. At Brewery Kestemont, these blackberries are grown just a ten-minute walk from the brewhouse. Harvest typically takes place in the first weeks of August, when the berries are perfectly ripe, bursting with flavor and natural sugars that offer a balanced sweet-and-sour profile.

Fully organic and hand-picked, the blackberries are added to a tank of lambik that has matured for at least one year — all on the same day as harvesting. This same-day addition ensures optimal transfer of the fruit’s vibrant aroma into the beer.

Brewery Kestemont uses around 350 grams of blackberries per liter of beer. After at least six months of fermentation and maturation in stainless steel tanks, followed by a second fermentation in the bottle for another six months, the result is a bright red beer with pinkish hues — a taste and appearance that evoke the essence of summer. The refreshing acidity is balanced by classic lambik character, with the blackberry notes shining through beautifully.

Best enjoyed on a sunny afternoon — or whenever a taste of summer is needed to brighten a colder day.
