The Digital NZ series wraps up with an exciting collaboration between a renowned New Zealand hop grower and brewery, an exceptional pairing.
Freestyle Hops, operating from two farms in Nelson, cultivates some of the world’s finest hops. This DDH IPA benefits from double dry-hopping, led by Freestyle’s Mega Terps—a terpene-optimized Phantasm blend that bursts with juicy pineapple and passionfruit. Supporting hops Riwaka, Motueka, and Peacharine contribute sweet citrus, ripe apricot, and a dank, herbaceous character.
Freestyle’s cutting-edge hop breeding program runs in collaboration with Garage Project, based in Aro Valley, Wellington. Since 2011, Pete and Ian Gillespie, along with Jos Ruffell, have transformed their brewery from small 50-litre batches into a modern brewing powerhouse. This beer reflects that same spirit of innovation, creativity, and bold exploration.
