Stift Engelszell – Gregorius

4,09

Engelszell Gregorius Trappistenbier is a dark and full-bodied beer. It is named after Gregorius Eisvogel, who served as the first abbot of the Trappist monastery Stift Engelszell from 1931 to 1950. The beer is rich in dark aromas but also carries hints of berry-like fruit and spiciness.

Description

Gregorius shines in the glass with a deep, dark chestnut brown. The nose is dominated by herbal and licorice aromas, underpinned by ripe fruit notes. Upon the first sip, a strong malt body presents itself, marked by coffee and roasted flavors. Local honey and Alsatian wine yeast create a beautiful sweet-and-sour interplay on the palate. Lightly bitter chocolate notes accompany the warming finish of this powerful Trappist beer. Profound – Thought-provoking.
